Gospel House in Madampe,
Southern Sri Lanka, seeks to provide employment
opportunities for disadvantaged young people, often
with no educational qualifications.
GH supports many small craft groups and through its
work, many women have been trained and empowered.
Tsunami-relief funds have enabled the establishment
of a number of new micro-enterprises, which Gospel
House has helped to resource. |

Traders Fair World Shop
Fair Trade is a
partnership between producers, buyers and us the shopkeepers
and consumers working to remove the disadvantages suffered
by producers, to increase producers’ access to markets and
promote a sustainable and fair income for the producers. Its
mission is to promote social equity, environmental
protection and economic security through trade.
Since1995 trading as an independent company we at Traders
Fair have been committed to these aims and objectives.

We are proud to be founder members of the British
Association for Fair Trade Shops, BAFTS, which is a network
of independent fair trade shops across the UK.
www.bafts.org.uk
BAFTS members buy from
BAFTS, WFTO or FLO recognised importers committed to paying
the producer a fair price and knowing that the workers
involved receive a good living wage.
This guarantees that the crafts we carry are fairly traded.
Craft producers are often family or small groups or women
and a steady fair income makes a huge difference to their
lives. They also receive advice on product development to
increase access to markets and a commitment to long term
relationships to provide stability and security. In many
cases it helps them to continue their traditional craft
skills.
Fair Trade promotes sustainable development and fights
poverty. Focusing on marginalised producers and small
farmers and workers in the South, Fair Trade has helped
millions escape from poverty. Because Fair trade works in
long term relationships and is committed to pay a living
wage, it enables its partners to invest in environmentally
friendly production. Fair Trade supports hand production,
organic agriculture and the use of recycled materials as
well as the sustainable use of natural resources and
production methods that are not capital or oil intensive.
Fair trade also campaigns for a trading system that puts
people’s livelihoods central to trading to promote social,
economic and environmental justice.
Amongst other things we stock items for the home, children’s
toys, beautiful handmade cards and small gifts.

Our sale or return
boxes give you a basic selection of items to sell in your
church or organisation or at an event. Products come already
priced and listed and you return any unsold items after an
agreed period with a cheque to pay for goods sold.
It can contain food or crafts or both to suit your event.
A box allows you to find out the most popular products with
no risk of you losing money. If you are thinking of setting
up a more permanent outlet we can help you with possible
suppliers and websites.
If you are unable to do your own buying we are happy to put
together a Sale or Return box for you at any time on
request.
Because we are a small volunteer group we do ask that you
give us as at least 3 weeks notice, longer if possible.
There is no charge for this service but we do have to ask
you to collect and deliver back to us.

We are a community

many people as possible, either by becoming a member or a
volunteer-or both, in the running of the company and in
maintaining the principles and ethics on which it is
founded.
Membership is £5.00 per annum.
Your continued support means better conditions for some of
the most marginalised people in the world.
Keep an eye on our News for Special Offers, new products,
